Mia Director Deirdre Diamante has been elected Chair of the AIIA Victorian Council. Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) is the peak representative body and advocacy group for the ICT industry in Australia.
Having spent three years as Deputy Co-Chair, Deirdre is looking forward to taking on the role of Chair and driving the objectives, programs, policies, interests and objectives of the AIIA in Victoria. These include growing Victoria’s digital ecosystem through engaging and influencing policy makers, particularly in the areas of innovation, skills and government digitisation.
The AIIA Victorian Council comprises 15 members of the Victorian ICT community, including representatives from both the private and public sectors. The new-look AIIA Victorian Council for 2018 includes Bambi Price (TronSystems) as Deputy Co-Chair Member Engagement, John Ieraci (Telstra) as Deputy Co-Chair Industry, and Marleese Attilakos (Cisco) as Deputy Co-Chair Government.
Deirdre’s experience at Mia, which operates at the nexus of industry and government, places her in an excellent position to lead the AIIA Victorian Council. Her deep understanding of both government and industry environments and drivers will guide the Council’s strong focus on encouraging tech industries and government agencies to work more effectively together, with the view to concrete outcomes and measurable benefits for all parties.
Under Deirdre’s leadership, the AIIA Victorian Council hopes in particular to work closely with the Victorian Government to drive ICT procurement initiatives aligned with government procurement reform. The AIIA in Victoria will also continue to help AIIA members understand how government’s procurement policies and processes can support greater opportunities to partner with industry, and develop and deliver innovative technological solutions.
Driving value to the private sector is also important and in 2018 the AIIA will continue to plan and implement initiatives that grow our industry ecosystem.
Deirdre’s role as Chair of the AIIA Victorian Council will ultimately benefit Mia’s clients as well. Deirdre is looking forward to getting involved in a greater number of early conversations about government policies, strategies and implementation in the tech sector. She is also excited at the prospect of working closely with and learning from the other members of the Council.
We look forward to sharing the insights gained from Deirdre’s tenure as AIIA Victorian Council Chair with the Mia community during 2018.
